Hello and Good Friday To All….    So yesterday I traveld to Boston to audition for a 2o minute Film, that will eventually head to the Sundance Film festival, and with hopes that I don’t end up on the preverbial cutting room floor. I spent less then a week auditioning my lines from the Devils Advocate,Kevin, with my lovely wife Lisa, who was Mary until I knew that I was ready to rip through that Audition. So getting back to yesterday, I traveled to Boston, first leaving my car at my brother in Laws house in Weymouth, and he being a great guy, drove me to the Quincy T Station to catch the train into Park Street. I wanted to be on time, and Me being the early bird of all things in life, arrived well before the 7:15pm audtion time. The audition was being held at Emerson College on Boylston street. I arrived early,so being diabetic and all, nature was calling,so I had to find a bathroom close by. I found this little out of the way bar along Boylston and left my calling card, had a quick beer and went to my audition. I was reading for Julia’s husband for the Movie The Boy and the Polar Bear. I wasn’t really nervous as I thought that I would be,or for that matter anyone else. I approached the room, West 1 and 2 at Emerson College. In fact I really didn’t know that it was a 20 minute short indie, until a family came in from Rhode Island, who brought two children with them to audition. Hey that’s ok,All of the great actors and actresses start somewhere. I was scheduled for 7:15pm and they were scheduled for 630. I ended up taking their spot first, while they took care of some paper work and to read over the parts they were auditioning for. Anyways.. I blew through the first lines, for Kevin and then they wanted me to read for Jonas, luck beholds,I was able to read right from the script for that part. The Producer, videotaped me during my reading, and the casting director was my ficticous wife. In all honesty folks, I have always done extra work, but this was my first time reading for a small part in a movie. I think I did a pretty good job, not to mention that I often deal with a speech impediment ie stutter…I was happy, and by all means,it appeared the casting director and Producer seemed pleased with the audition. So I left with hearing the words,We’ll be in touch in a few weeks. So I left to head back to Hull, and finished off the evening watching CSI…The show was all about a movie actress being killed by her sidekick….what a great way to end the day. So that was my excitement for the day. I’ll keep ya posted on the outcome of that audtion.  My best advice here for auditions..be prepared,ie read your lines,be early and leave with a smile!

For all future Casting calls You can go to BostonCasting.com or Kevin FenesseyCasting.com for Extra work, when you go to these sites,It would be best to sign up for casting emails, letting you know by way of email that they are looking for movie extras. I received an email this morning from CP Casting in Boston. They are not doing any current Extra Casting for any movie in Boston at this time,so do not email them requesting Extra work unless you are contacted.

You can now goto the Boston.com site and goto Arts and Entertainment and click on MassExtra2 to read my blog ! Often the Boston Herald will give a heads up as well if any casting agency is doing a cattle call for Extras…For most of the well worked Extra’s know of what is going on regarding casting calls.

The do’s and don’t of extra work is to wear comfortable shoes, the correct attire the Casting agency tells you to wear, bring your pen, and do what the Production Assistants tell you. Main idea here is not to look at the Camera, unless you are told otherwise. Also do not bring a camera to snap photo’s of the action, because it will result in your removal from the Set.  I will go over this from time to time,to remind all of you movie extra hounds on the do’s the don’t.  Have fun and smile !

Psss..If you loose your bookmark for my blog, you can goto the Boston.Com page and click on other Boston Blogs and click on massextra2 ! Thanks Boston.com !  Also…. If you come across anything that would be of interest to me regarding Hollywood East stuff…movie locations, who’s in town,Casting calls ect then by all means….Email me at MassExtra2@gmail.com    Thanks! Craig
