Mark Wahlberg should have won all rounds for The Fighter!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 28, 2011 by massextra2

Quick AM note here about last night’s Oscar awards…..Congrats to Christian Bale for his win and for anyone else who won for The Fighter..but ah the rest of the gold statue tinsel town gala…was nothing less then a horse and pony show that featured hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway who looked as though they were forced there by gunpoint to host the show. Yes Anne Hathaway is a great actress and she has stellar performances in many great films..James Franco has performed in many great films, but he should stick to his General Hospital gig and his love for his arts..but please do us a favor next year..stay away from hosting the Oscars. The stars in the audience looked liked they were bored and had no interest in being there…wait hold the presses folks..Is that Billy Crystal coming up on stage..Do I hear applauding and jokes?? This is the way it should have been last night at the Oscars! I was not happy when the producers of the Oscars woke Bob Hope up from his grave and put his face behind the podium for a few minutes, honestly let the great guy of comedy rest in peace,He paid his Hollywood dues. One last thing here..Mark Wahlberg should have had been carrying his Oscar out of that theater last night, I grew up being a stutterer and it was no picnic of course..but I would have not given one to the Kings Speech.

Don’t forget if your from Quincy and looking to get into Kevin James’s new movie..Here Comes the Boom…There is a Open casting call this weekend March 5th. I posted the info below in a previous post. Have a great day!

Massachusetts film industry ‘bouncing back’ Great story for all of MassExtra2’s

Massachusetts film industry ‘bouncing back’.

The above link for the Story is from the Boston Herald and its pointing out that the Massachusetts Film Industry is of course bouncing back with several ongoing major films being shot here in Massachusetts.. The South Shore is now becoming a key place to shoot a major film and Independent films and I love this because for a year or so we were left in the dust because of the lack of tax incentives Massachusetts could offer…Now that we have those tax incentives, the door is wide open for Hollywood to come knocking. Quincy is the focal point of Hollywood films, such as The Departed, Gone Baby Gone and the Company Men, The Box with Cameron Diaz and now We have Kevin James starring in Here Comes The Boom, that will take over the old Quincy High School this Spring.Columbia Pictures agreed to pay the City of Quincy 80k for the full use of the School for the feature film. Open casting calls begin next weekend,so be prepared! . Boston Casting and South Shore Casting,Jodi Purdy is handling the cattle call for that call and other casting calls will be held for more background this coming month.  I posted a comment on the Beantownname.Boston facebook site as to why casting calls for Here Comes the Boom cannot be held in a more local fashion..near or in Quincy..not sure if someone read that comment, but an Open Casting call for Quincy residents is being held next weekend and other calls will be announced. If for some reason, they need other locations…pssst check out Cohasset,Hingham and Hull..We have some great locations for films!

Closer Open Casting Calls would make life easier for Background!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 23, 2011 by massextra2

It’s pretty clear that with multi film productions coming up this Spring and Summer…Quincy,Norwood,Boston and maybe Adeline being shot in Mass…I am sure with the amount of money being paid for casting these features…closer casting calls would be ideal in the long run of things. It is honestly unfair for those seeking background work they need to travel all the way out to your casting office, where they live in Quincy,Weymouth,Hingham,Hull for Open Casting calls! Quincy High School,Its votech center has alot of space to hold casting calls..and its right off the Red Line! You guys want background..but you have to come closer to us! Yeah I am tough on this because it seems as though any casting company,Boston Casting or CP Casting pegs the casting calls miles away..case in point..When the Witches of Eastwick was shot in Cohasset..the Casting call was held in Cohasset! Not Boston! Sorry this just bugs me folks! We need to speak up sometime! I also posted this on Beantownname.Boston
